COMPLEMENTARY THERAPY

Having a palliative care diagnosis can be a bewildering time and can feel frightening and tiring.

Bereavement can be a difficult and lonely experience.

Our complementary therapy program offers people receiving palliative care, their care givers or anyone experiencing a recent bereavement a place to receive a relaxation therapy.

At the Geographe Bay Centre, we hold a quiet space for you to relax and unwind for a while. Receiving a relaxation therapy can restore the experience of touch as a point of connection, comfort and nurturing of mind, body and spirit.

Complementary Therapies are non-invasive and work alongside any other treatment you may be receiving.

How we can help

Therapies available are dependent on the qualified therapists who kindly volunteer their time, knowledge and skills to provide this service.

These include:

  • Relaxation Massage
  • Beauty Therapy – facials
  • Reiki
  • Hand and foot massage
  • Reflexology

Complementary therapies may assist to:

  • Promote relaxation
  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Improve well-being and quality of life
  • Provide emotional support
  • Support the client, carer and family
  • Assist with sleep
  • Alleviate symptoms commonly associated with palliative care and end of life care issues.

My wife loved coming to the Geographe Bay Centre. She loved the quiet and being able to receive touch given with such respect and love. It was the one place where she found peace during the last months of her life.
