Since 2000, Busselton Hospice Care Inc. have been providing support to people with a palliative care diagnosis and their families by engaging volunteers from our community. All our volunteer programs are administered from the Geographe Bay Centre at 5 Craig Street, West Busselton and is 100% funded by our generous community.

Our palliative care volunteers provide support in the:

• Busselton Health Campus in the Hospice Unit

• Bereavement Support Programs at the Geographe Bay Centre

• Complementary Therapy Programs at Geographe Bay Centre

We are committed to a philosophy of care that recognises end of life issues concerned with death, dying, palliative care, loss and bereavement that affect us all and is everyone’s responsibility. This philosophy is embedded in all our programs and the presence of volunteers is a direct expression of our community’s concern in ensuring individuals and their families remain connected and a part of their community. Volunteers provide an anchor for patients and families at times that can be uncertain and unpredictable. Families gain confidence enabling them to go through this time feeling strengthened, cared for and understood.

We have engaged and trained many community members in becoming palliative care volunteers in our programs. This has been made possible by the generosity of the people of Busselton / Dunsborough and surrounding regions. They have joined with us over many years in a clear expression of support by providing the funding to offer this compassionate care for those in our community approaching the end of life.

We recognise that at this point of life’s journey every person is entitled to spend their last days within their own community where compassion, respect, a sense of companionship and belonging is supported.
